Shoot day! (12-19-20)
Man, always a good time when me and my bro take some pictures. Might be hard to tell but I actually really enjoy portrait work. Photography is normally a solo thing for me so working with a model, in this case a good friend is a good time. We took some dope shots. These were my favorites of the day, take a look.
My favorite one 👀.
Macho Man!
Don’t that look like a good time?

Politics as usual…
In light of our recent political situation this seemed like a cool time to share a few pictures I took this summer. You may or may not like who’s running the show but at least we’re prime TV.
I had some trouble with the colors in this photo, the red just wouldn’t stay how I wanted it. I loved the representation of America by the girl taking a selfie and someone watching.
A walk through Washington Park
Lately I haven’t been able to find the time to go out to shoot as much as I did during the summer so I’ve been going through photos that I’ve never shared and trying to notice patterns in my own work and what my eye is naturally drawn too. Perhaps it’s possible that I have a style of photos I enjoy to take and looking through them may help me find it. The three photos in this post were taken on August 1st, 2020.
Since a kid I’ve always loved the color red so it’s natural to me that red would be a color my eye is naturally inclined to go towards. Whenever I see someone in red I start thinking of how I can make the photo. I wasn’t too happy about the shadow in the bottom left but thankfully the subject was so strong with the bold red umbrella and the matching skirt.
Another photo with a subject in red. She actually has four different pieces of red on. A purse, skirt, scarf and her lipstick. Unfortunately I can’t remember where I heard it but there’s a quote that says luck is a combination of being ready when opportunity presents itself. Fortunately I had my camera for this moment where I caught her with a smile.
There’s a feeling of longing coming from our subject to the left. If I was bold enough to create a story I’d say she was lonely or waiting for someone and watching others enjoy themselves reminds her of friends or a loved one. The shadows and cuts of light that travel throughout her figure help with that feeling. Also while red is a bold color that carries the feeling of strength in the previous two photos the blue in her umbrella brings weakness.
I’d love to hear what you feel about these photos. Do colors bring emotions to mind for you as well?
A lunch break in July
I always take a long time to post my photos, I’m trying to be more active. Back in July I had my camera with me at work so I decided to walk around a bit on my lunch. I didn’t expect much but I enjoy these two photos.
I like the simplicity in this photo. It’s calming and minus the cars I wouldn’t be able to tell what year this was.
One good thing about bright days is the harsh light. When it’s overly bright it makes it easier to create silhouettes out of people and hid them in the shadows.
Window shot
This is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken this year. To me it looks like it’s a double exposure photo but it was only one shot. This photos give me a feeling of playfulness and nostalgia. I think that comes from the warm tones and the floating balloons. As usual there’s a human element in my photo but you almost can’t see her. What do you think? Does this photo bring out any emotion from you?
